The building
The 11 floor building includes two large roof terraces and 31,500 m² of office space, with retail on the street level. The developers committed themselves to meet the highest sustainability targets.
The requirement
A BREEAM ‘excellent’ rating was required. The architect paid particular attention to glare and solar gain reduction in order to meet the BREEAM criteria. They recognised the importance of maintaining a view to the outside from all elevations to improve staff health and well-being.
The solution
A thermal modelling study showed that Verosol SilverScreen, a high quality metallised screen fabric with 4% openness, provided the optimum shade coefficient. The use of this fabric earned an additional BREEAM credit for thermal comfort in the Health and Wellness category.
